Internal and external waterproofing a monolithic Foundation

The work of waterproofing of monolithic concrete foundations are carried out in several stages such as surface cleaning, repair of individual regions, the application of hydrophobic layer and its protection. Company Monolit Build offers you a solution that will provide waterproofing your Foundation for many years and is optimum on a ratio the price - quality.

Clean the surface before waterproofing

The main purpose of this stage is fully cleaned of dirt, dust, oil, old waterproofing, projections, loose particles, etc. the concrete surface. The sources are different, but the result is a completely clean and smooth concrete base.

Recommended cleaning methods:

  • dismantling a jackhammer (for large protrusions and particles)
  • grinding the concrete surface using diamond Cup
  • surface treatment high water pressure (250 ATM), we recommend you to use nozzle "Gidropress", in order to increase the strength of the jet.

Cutting adjacencies

This stage is performed in parallel with the previous one, since the use of a jackhammer is accompanied by a large amount of dirt and dust. So, in order to do the cleaning in the endless circle, we strongly suggest to combine these two processes together.

Before cutting, we recommend to determine the height of the waterproofing coatings from the floor level. Typically, this is done on a time-tested formula: ground level 40 cm

The junctions wall-floor, wall-wall, wall-ceiling, you need to make grooves with a width of 30 mm and a depth of 30 mm for internal and external works.

Sealing of adjunctions, the device fillet

The previously prepared grooves at the junctions at this stage it is necessary to close up heavy-duty non-shrink mortar with high adhesion Teknorep 300 or Teknorep 300 EX.. If there are active water leaks, must be eliminated by using compositions Teknoplug Yildirim or Teknoplug. Time full cure of the compositions from 1 to 2 minutes, respectively. The adjacencies are also doing a small fillet using the same material. This will significantly reduce pressure on waterproofing coating at the joint.

All the bumps and potholes as necessary to plaster mortar Teknorep 300.

Waterproofing of flashings

At this stage, the waterproofing finally divided into external and internal, as the water pressure outside the structure is positive and inside is negative. And depending on where it will be (outside or inside) will get the material and the technique of their execution.

Outside: to cut all grooves, seams and contiguity should be applied two-component flexible waterproofing material Teknomer 200 EX. In these zones of possible small movements in the process of operation, it is therefore necessary to apply a hydrophobic material that will not only cover cracks but also to provide compensation advances.

Before applying the mixture, the area of waterproofing is necessary to moisten. Then prepared according to instructions solution Teknomer 200 EX should be applied in two coats with a roller, brushes or ceiling brushes. Wait 5-6 hours between coats depending on ambient temperature. Layers should be applied perpendicular to each other. The total application thickness 2-3 mm.

Inside: on the seams, joints and contiguity should be applied in two layers crystallized two-component hydrophobic material Teknomer 200 Crystallized, which is designed for the negative pressure of water.

Waterproofing of communications

At this stage it is necessary to make sealing all inlets, pipes and other flow elements. Highly recommend to do it with bentonite cord 5 mm x 20 mmbased on bentonite clay. For this is enough for the tube segment to make a few turns bentonite cord, placing it so that it was approximately in the middle of the structure. You must then seal the remaining space with the help of repair composition Teknorep 300 or Teknorep 300 EX.. To do this, the entire surface around the passage communication should be moisturized with a spatula very closely and carefully to fill the gap one of the above solutions.

Waterproofing the walls and floor with a monolithic Foundation

Outside waterproofing of the walls is done in several stages. To start on a clean and dry surface, apply one coat of bitumen-rubber primer Izoplast R. The consumption of primer should be approximately 0.3-0.6 kg/m2. After its fully dry (about 8 hours) apply gluing pressure bitumen-rubber mastic Izoplast MEGA-TEX in two perpendicular to each other in the layer, using brush, spatula or roofing brush. Consumption of the composition will be about 1-1. 2 kg/m2 per layer. The interval of application layers should be at least 3 hours. After two coats of bituminous waterproofing to dry (minimum 6 hours), you can begin to glue down the Styrofoam (we recommend gluing from the bottom up). This requires a slab of penopolistirola a point to put a bitumen-rubber mastic Izoplast MEGA-TEX (6-8 pieces per plate). Then with a little force to push the plate to the concrete base.

Inside waterproofing of walls and floors is recommended, using the crystallized one-component hydrophobic material based on cement of Tekamah 100. Before application the surface should be moistened. Then the prepared mixture is applied to the surface in 2-3 layers, using a stiff brush or by mechanical spraying.

Protection of the waterproofing coatings

Internal waterproofing made solution Teknomer 100, is ready for further processing after 5 days. But the slab of polystyrene to protect it with a spiky membrane almost immediately after gluing. For this we recommend to use a thorn membrane Sintar, with or without geotextiles (depending on the required degree of protection).
